First-time buyers of the MPV have increased to 41% thanks to the Ertiga’s contemporary appeal, primarily due to an increase in younger urban consumers. Ertiga’s picture-perfect appeal as a lifestyle family car is further reinforced by the fact that 66% of buyers view it as a pre-determined choice. The chic, adaptable, and trustworthy Ertiga has a remarkable 37.5% segment market share and is well-liked in both rural and urban areas of the nation.
A host of cutting-edge features, including a 17.78 cm (7-inch) Smartplay Pro Touchscreen Infotainment System with Arkamys Surround Sense, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, MID with turn-by-turn navigation, Suzuki Connect~ with over 40 features, remote air conditioning, automatic headlights, cruise control, and machined two-tone alloy wheels, make the top-end Ertiga variants popular with buyers.
When the Ertiga was introduced in 2012, it carved out a place for itself in the market by providing a better value than the more costly Toyota Innova. At the time, the MPV was also offered with the well-liked 1.3-liter diesel engine from Fiat, which contributed significantly to its sales. The 1.3-liter diesel engine and the brand-new 1.5-liter diesel engine were available for the second-generation Ertiga when it was introduced in 2018. But with the implementation of BS6 emissions regulations, Maruti discontinued all diesel-powered vehicles, making the Ertiga diesel obsolete.
The Ertiga boasts a lot of useful features, like bottle holders, accessory sockets in each row, air-cooled cup holders, and front row armrests with utility boxes. The spacious cabin of the Ertiga is kept comfortable for passengers sitting in the back rows as well thanks to the second-row roof-mounted AC unit for rear passengers, which has three speed settings and numerous adjustable air vents. With its well-thought-out third-row seats that can fold flat and recline, the MPV boasts a roomy cabin with plenty of comfort features.

Powertrain Choices
Additionally, customers looking for an MPV that combines the convenience of a clutch-free driving experience with performance have chosen the Ertiga due to its 6-speed automatic gearbox and paddle shifters. The 1.5L Dual Jet, Dual VVT Next-Gen K-series engine with Progressive Smart Hybrid Technology powers the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and has a maximum fuel efficiency of 20.51 km/l. The CNG drivetrain returns 26.11 km/kg, further increasing efficiency. In addition to being extremely popular in India, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is exported to more than 80 countries.
A 1.5-liter DualJet DualVVT petrol engine with a maximum power output of 103PS and a peak torque of 136.8Nm powers the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. A factory-installed CNG kit, which generates a lower output of 88PS and 121.5Nm, is also an option. There are two different gearbox options: a 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 5-speed manual. The latter can only be used with the petrol model. Thanks to Suzuki’s mild hybrid technology, the Maruti Ertiga can achieve up to 20.51 km/l when powered by petrol and 26.11 km/kg when powered by CNG.
Price and Rivals
At present, Maruti Suzuki retails the Ertiga between Rs 8.69 – 13.03 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as an affordable alternative to the Kia Carens.
The automaker also provides the slightly more expensive XL6 MPV over the Ertiga through Nexa showrooms. Naturally, this is not included in the Ertiga’s sales figures, which adds even more significance to the car’s one million sales accomplishment. Ultimately, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is still a dependable seven-seater family car despite its lengthy lifespan, and based on recent sales data, it appears the Ertiga will survive.
