Microsoft has created a chatbot called Microsoft Copilot. It was introduced as Bing Chat on February 7, 2023, as a built-in feature for Microsoft Bing and Microsoft Edge. It is Microsoft’s main substitute for the discontinued Cortana. It is based on a large language model.

The conversational UI design of Copilot is similar to ChatGPT. Microsoft started to standardise the Copilot branding across all of its chatbot products in 2023. Microsoft revealed plans to integrate Copilot into Windows 11 at its Build 2023 conference, enabling users to access it directly through the taskbar. An official Copilot key for Windows keyboards was announced in January 2024.
