The 2024 Astor has been introduced by MG India in India, with new prices beginning at Rs 9.98 lakh (ex-showroom). There are now five variants of the updated Astor to choose from, including the new Sprint variant. 2024 MG Astor: What is new?
The Astor now has an improved i-Smart system with a new user interface and over 80 connected car functions as part of the model year update. However, it goes on with six choices for exterior colours.Other features include level 2 autonomy, a panoramic sunroof, a voice recognition system powered by Jio, a 360-degree camera, a wireless charging pad, ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated ORVMs, a driver seat with six settings, an electronic digital key enabled by Bluetooth, an auto-parking brake with auto-hold, hill hold assistance, six airbags, hill descent control, a personal AI assistant, ESP, ABS with EBD, brake assist, traction control, auto-dimming IRVM, four-wheel disc brakes, PM 2.5 filter, and TPMS, among other features.
The MG Astor is a petrol-only SUV with two engine options: a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with 110 horsepower and 144 Nm, or a 1.3-liter turbocharged engine with 140 horsepower and 220 Nm. The 1.3-liter engine is matched with a 6-speed AT, but the 1.5-liter engine can be combined with either a 6-speed MT or a CVT.Along with an upgraded i-Smart 2.0 with an advanced user interface, the MG Astor 2024 boasts features like ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play, and an auto-dimming IRVM. More than 80 linked features are present.The Jio voice recognition system, which enables sophisticated voice commands for the weather, cricket updates, calculator, clock, date/day information, horoscope, dictionary, news, and knowledge, is one of the notable features of the i-Smart 2.0. The head unit’s special birthday wish feature, which enables date customisation via the i-Smart mobile app, and widget customisation on the home screen with multiple home pages complement the sophisticated user interface.
With features like i-Smart 2.0, more than 80 connected features, a voice recognition system powered by Jio, and a digital key with an anti-theft feature, the updated MG Astor is a feature-rich device. Additional features include ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, auto-dimming IRVM, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree surround camera, and a Level 2 ADAS suite.There have been no mechanical alterations made to the Astor’s drivetrain. Its 1.5-liter gasoline engine and 1.3-liter turbo-petrol motor remain the same, and its available gearbox choices are a six-speed torque converter unit, a five-speed manual and a CVT.The deputy managing director of MG Motor India, Gaurav Gupta, commented on the launch, saying, “We are committed to meeting our customers’ expectations with products that showcase the latest in automobile technology.” In keeping with this commitment, the Astor 2024 lineup, which is commemorating its 100th anniversary this year, provides a blend of features, design, and excellent value propositions that excite automobile enthusiasts.Meanwhile, After a series of teasers and a global reveal in mid-December, Kia has introduced the much-anticipated updated Sonet in India. The base model of the small SUV costs Rs 7.99 lakh, while the top-of-the-line X-Line model costs Rs 15.69 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. There are 19 variants of the redesigned Sonet available, five of which are diesel manual options.
