The market for high-performance cruiser motorcycles with multiple cylinders is expanding right now as more OEMs release models in this category. Kawasaki Eliminator 400 is one of the newest models in this market; it was introduced in India at a starting price of Rs. 5.62 lakh (ex-sh). However, in Japan, Kawasaki debuted new Eliminator models.

The 2024 Eliminator from Kawasaki can be characterised as a cross between a standard and a cruiser. The new Eliminator has an engine that is the same as that of the Ninja 400 and Z400 streetbikes, but it is larger at 451cc. The Eliminator’s parallel-twin engine, which has a 6.8mm larger stroke (58.6mm) for more low-end torque, has the same bore (70.0mm) as its sportier siblings. With modifications to achieve a 28.9-inch seat height and a 59.8-inch wheelbase, the Eliminator’s steel trellis frame, which gives it its cruiser stance, is modelled after the Ninja 400 platform.

Although the SE ABS model of the Eliminator is advertised as having a curb weight of 390 pounds, it feels much lighter in use. When navigating through traffic or slicing through backroads, the 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator maintains a stable and controlled lean angle by requiring minimal handlebar input. The ideal balance between comfort and performance is provided by the suspension.

Even at my 125-pound weight, the suspension parts were able to take the brunt of the road’s imperfections while still offering more than enough holdup when braking hard or negotiating fast corners. Naturally, a sizable lump or crater may cause the bike to become unsteady, but keep in mind that this is a cruiser. And in spite of a few significant flaws on the surfaces traversed, never once did the twin shocks bottom out.
